CAPE TOWN – Several suspected criminal underworld bosses are expected in the Cape Town magistrates court on Monday.
The men are facing charges of extortion and intimidation.
They were arrested last week.
It is believed that they are involved in a turf war over night club security.
Cape Town police say that they’ve arrested five big shots within Cape Town’s gang underworld.
Alleged Sexy Boys gang boss Jerome Booysen’s brother is apparently part of the group.
The men are between the ages of 36 and 44.
It is understood that the tussle over who controls nightclub security can be linked to the surge in violent shootings experienced at various clubs in recent months.
Booysen survived three separate shooting incidents this year alone.
The latest incident left him in ICU with bullet wounds to his abdomen and right leg.
Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has requested the roll-out of the SANDF to curb gang violence in hotspot areas.
