CAPE TOWN – Cyclists, who want to enter for the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour, will be able to do so from the 20th of this month when applications open.

In March this year, thousands of riders were left disappointed when the iconic race had to be cancelled due to gale force winds.

This has compelled race organisers to find an alternative venue for the start.

It has now been moved from Hertzog Boulevard on the foreshore to the Grand Parade.

Director of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, David Bellairs says there is good news for all riders who missed out on this year’s race.
“All entrants who registered for the event and collected their race numbers will be put on a priority list on next year’s cycle tour at last year’s prices. There will be no increase, and they will be guaranteed on their entry for the first week before we open for entries to the general public.”

“In the 40 years of the Cycle Tour we have had only 3 years of severe wind. This year we were incredibly unfortunate” David Bellairs

1. Every rider who entered and registered for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour by collecting their race pack at the Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo

2. Will receive a preferential entry prior to general entries opening. Entry fees for these riders will remain fixed at 2017 rates.
