CAPE TOWN – It was believed that the shoot-out was gang-related.
A 12-year-old girl was seriously wounded when she got caught up in crossfire in an apparent gang-related shoot-out in Glider Crescent in Factreton in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon, paramedics said.
ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, arrived on the scene and were led into the residence where the girl had been taken, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the child lying on the couch. Paramedics assessed the girl and found that she had sustained a serious head injury. The young girl was treated for her injuries and was immediately transported to Groote Schuur Provincial Hospital for further care.”
It was believed that the shoot-out was gang-related. The girl was wounded while she had been walking home with her brother. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, Meiring said.
