CAPE TOWN – Many motorists have been affected by protests in Cape Town on Monday morning.

Mew Way has been closed to traffic between Steve Biko and Spine Road.

Cape Town traffic services Maxine Bezuidenhoudt says they’re monitoring the protests.

“People are protesting in the Blackheath area, with Wimbledon Road closed to traffic as a result of burning tyres at that intersection. Mew Way is closed between Spine Road and Steve Biko Road in Khayelitsha. It remains closed due to earlier protest action in the facility.”

In Benoni there is protest action on (R23) Snake Road between N12 and the N17 in the Apex area – Road is now closed

Also in Cape Town, Police are going to continue monitoring an area in Mfuleni following an early morning protest. Officials say while stun grenades were used as the crowd was barricading a road, nobody has been arrested.
