CAPE TOWN – Woman who lied about being black, Rachel Dolezal, is coming to SA

If you haven’t heard the name, Rachel Dolezal, before, you’re in for a real surprise. Sit back, relax and read on.

Rachel Dolezal is a 39-year-old woman from America. She made headlines in 2015 when it was revealed she was a white woman who had been pretending to be black for years.

Dolezal spent almost a decade of her life faking being a black woman. She was a civil rights activist and president of an organisation that fights for the rights of African Americans.

Dolezal wore a curly weave to hide her natural blonde hair and got spray tans to make her skin darker.

She also attended a black university, taught African studies and was married to a black man.

Rachel Dolezal’s true identity was made known when her parents outed her. She is in fact a white woman with Czech, Swedish, German, and Native American heritage.

Last year, Dolezal officially changed her name in hope that it would create positive attention around her new identity.

Rachel Dolezal ‘s new name is Nkechi Amare Diallo. Nkechi comes from the Igbo language of Nigeria and means ‘what god has given’ or ‘gift of God’.

Dolezal said she is “transracial” and that race is just a social construct. According to Dolezal, if a person wakes up tomorrow and feels like they are Chinese inside, then they are “trans-Chinese” and should be recognised as Chinese.

Now, Dolezal will be coming to South Africa on April 19 for a meeting on nonracial South African society dialogue.

People on Twitter aren’t impressed at all by this.

I am actually just gobsmacked that Rachel Dolezal is coming to South Africa to talk about race. I mean hahahahahah.

Since Rachel Dolezal is transracial,I’m transfinancial…
