CAPE TOWN – It’s all systems go ahead of the Cape Town Carnival in the Cape Town CBD today.
This year’s theme is Amaza! Ocean Odyssey.
It’s the eighth year the carnival is being hosted and over 40,000 spectators are expected.
From 3pm on Saturday the fan walk will be turned into a pedestrian walkway filled with fun, food and Capetonians enjoying the freedom of Cape Town streets.
With the carnival set to kick off at 7pm, those wishing to attend have been advised to get to town early, as various road closures will be in effect from 8am.
Over 2,000 participants, 17 large scale floats, 25 puppets and six giant back-pack costumes will take part in this year’s event.
The carnival is regarded as one of the most inclusive events on the Cape Town social calendar.
