Eastern Cape police said the motive for the incident was unknown.

A taxi owner and his driver were gunned down in a house in Jeffrey’s Bay, in the Eastern Cape, police said on Monday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli said that the incident occurred at about 6.15pm on Sunday when three men, of whom two were armed, stormed into the house on John Dube Street, Mandela area, and fatally shot the taxi owner, 51-year-old Mthobeli Matyumza, and his driver, Sivuyile Ntontole, 32.

“It is alleged that the three men then fled without taking anything from the house,” Nkohli said. “The motive for the incident is unknown.”
